Hi Peter, I want a good quality mattress that lasts for many years. They seem to be impossible to find one that remains comfortable for more than a couple of years. Hi Pete, I’m very sensitive to fire-retardant and other chemical products in mattresses, like memory foam. I didn’t used to have these problems. But apparently, in 2007, a federal mandate added some ridiculous requirements for flame retardant. Mattress makers who use things like foam have no choice but to comply, so they spray the mattress casing with chemical fire retardants, rather than cover the mattresses in something that doesn’t burn, like wool, which is natural but too expensive. I’m on my third mattress in two years and still looking for one that doesn’t give me a headache. Headache is a common negative side effect of a memory foam mattress. Memory foam consists of 61 different chemicals, some of which are highly toxic....carcinogenic. Sinus headache is the most common, but not the most serious side effect. Bleeding sinuses is among the worst I've encountered. Memory foam wears poorly, for extra measure. I see many people write for mattress advice. I am 4’11 and weigh 150. I have DDD, (degenerative disc disease), in my lower back. I sleep on side and stomach, mostly. I recently slept on a Beautyrest hospitality series Hyde Park mattress. My pain was gone after sleeping in it just two days. I currently sleep in a Ghostbed natural sleep mattress. It’s pretty firm. Our bed is also on an adjustable bed base. It has helped my pain level. However, I would like to be pain free. I have a Tempurpedic memory foam topper. Of course, it was very comfortable at first, but after time my back pain worsened. So, I do not use it anymore. It made me sleep hot. What is your recommendation?
