Hi Pete,
I love the heavenly bed. I like a not-too-firm mattress that has a plush feel to it, that will support all night. My husband likes the same. I’m a classic goldilocks - not too soft....not too firm..solid and feels luxury. Which one? We have a king sized bed. We live in New York. Thanks, Richard Good Morning, What makes a “Heavenly Bed” so comfortable is the individually pocketed coils. The coils move independently from one another, creating an independent suspension type of support, which is specifically designed to maintain the natural alignment of the body and spine. At one time, this kind of coil system was only available through Simmons Beautyrest mattresses. Today, most innerspring mattresses are made this way. Unfortunately, most are also using memory foam upholstery, which is purposefully designed to cause a mattress to need frequent replacing. Pure, Organic and Hypoallergenic Latex is and has been the best, (most comfortable and longest lasting), upholstery material for the last 100+ years. So, what you want is the combination of pocketed coils and latex upholstery. I have 2 excellent choices for you…and both are currently on sale. Both provide that firm support and comfortable sleeping surface you’re wanting. (Not too firm and not too soft) PlushBeds Luxury Bliss Mattress is one, offering a 100 Night Trial Period. Williams Kingston Plush Mattress is the other, offering White Glove Delivery, which includes setup in your bedroom and removal of your old mattress. They’re very strong and assembles easily with no tools needed. Keeping your mattress fresh smelling, clean and dry will enhance longevity. The Sleep & Beyond Organic Cotton Waterproof Mattress Protector is my recommendation…the one we use at home. It sleeps cool and works well. Hi Pete,
Thanks for the useful, straitforward information on your site. My husband and I are replacing our Queen bed with a King and have been trying to make some sense of the mattress market. At age 62, I am about 130 lbs and have arthritis and neuropathy. So, I need a mattress that is supportive and firm, but comfortable. My husband is about 200 lbs with just the usual aches and pains. You make a good case on your site for the PlushBeds Luxury Bliss and the Williams Kingston Plush mattresses. You’ve also recommended some all latex models. I would appreciate some direction pertinent to our needs. Thank you so much for providing this resource! Sophie Hi Sofie, An all latex mattress, while extremely durable, does not provide the pushback support of an innerspring mattress. No all foam mattress will work well for aging backs. Both, the PlushBeds Luxury Bliss and Williams Kingston Plush mattresses will provide the proper support for maintaining your body’s natural alignment, which will relieve a lot of those aches and pains. Both mattresses have enough surface comfort to relieve your arthritis and neuropathy pains. And, both are strong enough for long term use under a 200 lb. man, thanks to the Pure, Organic and Hypoallergenic Latex upholstery. Both mattresses are currently on sale. And while both are similarly made, each comes with a different set of services. The PlushBeds Luxury Bliss comes with a 100 Night Trial Period. The Williams Kingston Plush comes with White Glove Delivery. Delivery includes setup in your bedroom and removal of your old mattress and all packing materials. I have a lumbar ruptured disc pressing on a root nerve as well as multiple minor vertebral issues related to normal aging. My pain management doctor three times said pllowtop when I asked what type of mattress to get. So when I read your information it appears you discourage these type mattresses. Can you advise me? Thank You, Debra Hi Debra, What your doctor is suggesting, is a mattress with a softer sleeping surface. What your doctor does know is, the pillow top part f a mattress is the first thing to wear. When it does, the whole mattress is, essentially, shot…no longer comfortable and your pain returns. It’s a lot of money to waste for such short usage. What your doctor doesn’t know is that there is something to avoid. Many mattresses use memory foam, which is specifically designed to cause a mattress to need frequent replacing…with or without a pillow top. Your back and spine require some degree of firm support. The best you can do is opt for a mattress that uses an individually pocketed coil system, which provides firm, contouring support, which maintains the natural alignment of the body and spine. This type of mattress that’s upholstered with Pure, Organic and Hypoallergenic Latex will provide long lasting comfort. If you need a soft sleeping surface, then add a removable pillow top. A soft latex mattress topper lasts for years. And when it does need to be replaced, you can do that for a lot less money than having to replace the entire mattress. I have 2 mattresses that I recommend highly. Love the information on your blog. I’ll make this short. What’s the best mattress at the best price? Thanks, John Hi John, I wish there were a short answer to go with your short question. First off…thee thing to avoid, are mattresses made with memory foam. Those selling them talk about memory foam as if it was the best thing since sliced bread. Memory foam is specifically designed to cause a mattress to need frequent replacing…not to mention the chemical off gassing and sleeping hot side effects. From a salesperson’s point of view, it’s terrific…making you a frequent buyer. From a consumer’s viewpoint, it’s the worst thing ever invented. The best upholstery material is Pure, Organic and Hypoallergenic Latex. This has been true for more than the last 100 years. And while latex has always been a lot more expensive, of late, the prices have come down. I have 2 recommendations. Both use an individually pocketed coil system for proper spinal alignment and pure latex upholstery. Basically, they are the same. The difference is in the extended services that are offered. The PlushBeds Luxury Bliss Mattress (Medium for light to average size people…Medium Firm for heavier people) This mattress ships via UPS…to the front door delivery. I’m an above average size female side sleeper. I’m looking for a high quality mattress that includes delivery, setup and removal of my old mattress. I want one that is made of organic materials. I don’t want anything that will off gas. I want something that will support my back and relieve pressure on my hips. I have a platform bed, so I don’t need anything else, just the mattress. Can you help me with this? Thanks, Janet Hi Janet, I can help you with this. The Williams Kingston Mattress in Plush is ideal for your needs. The individually pocketed coils provide firm, contouring support, which is designed to maintain the natural alignment of your body and spine. The Pure, Organic and Hypoallergenic Latex upholstery provides long lasting and unparalleled surface comfort for your hips and shoulders. The cove is organic cotton. My husband and I are elderly and in need of a new mattress. We’re not in terribly bad shape, just the usual aches and pains. We need a good quality mattress that can be delivered to our bedroom and our old mattress taken away. We have a lovely platform bed, so we just need the mattress without a boxspring. We aren’t capable of handling any of this ourselves and have no one who we can ask for help. Can you recommend a mattress to fit our needs? Thanks in advance, Edith Hi Edith, I can help you with all of that. A good quality mattress will have a firm, contouring support provided by an individually pocketed coil system to maintain the natural alignment of your body and spine. This will help relieve some of those aches and pains. The upholstery should be pure, organic and hypoallergenic latex. Pure latex is extremely durable and soft latex will help ease some of your other aches and pains. Latex provides the unique feeling that you’re floating. The Williams Kingston Plush Mattress is my recommendation. This mattress has all of the aforementioned components. And, it comes with White Glove Delivery, which includes setup in your bedroom and removal of your old mattress and all of the packaging materials. There’s nothing for you to do but point to where you want it. And, it’s On Sale…20% Off Here’s a link to that mattress, where you can view the specifications and place your order: (Usual Delivery Time is 2 Weeks) The Williams Kingston Plush Mattress https://cc-mattress-llc.square.site/product/kingston-plush/105?cp=true&sa=false&sbp=false&q=false&category_id=TBPEGMF6GAOUPNC4SCBQMGLT Also recommended is a waterproof mattress protector, which prevents perspiration from seeping into the upholstery materials. I have an old Simmons Beautyrest World Class Baymont Plush, king-sized, that I’ve owned for 20+ years. It’s finally worn out and in need of replacement. Can you tell me what today’s equivalent is? It’s been the best mattress I’ve ever owned and I’d like to replicate it as much as reasonably possible. Thank you, Jim Hi Jim, There is no equivalent from Simmons. Simmons, along with all of the major brands, has been sold to investors. 20+ years ago, it was nearly impossible to buy a bad mattress. Today, just the opposite is true. I can recommend a mattress that is similarly made to Simmons Beautyrest. The type of coil system is the same. The type of support is the same. The differences are: The coil count is higher and the coils are stronger than in any Simmons mattress. The upholstery material is Pure Organic Latex. Simmons now uses memory foam. There is no memory foam in your old mattress. The World Class Beautyrests often used some latex. The mattress that you will enjoy as much and for as long is: The Williams Oxford Mattress in Plush Click on this link to view specifications and prices: https://www.themattressexpert.com/the_williams_co.html#/ White glove delivery is free Thanks, Pete A waterproof mattress protector will extend the life of any mattress, keeping it clean and dry. https://www.themattressexpert.com/store/p169/Organic_Cotton_Waterproof_Mattress_Protector.html#/ Website: https://themattressexpert.com/ Email: pete.themattressexpert@gmail.com Voicemail: 856-874-6894 Follow us on Facebook Hi Pete,
My wife is insisting that our next mattress be organic. We’ve been through 3 different mattresses in the past year. Each one made her feel sick, despite the salesperson’s assurances. She’s been researching, found your blog and is looking for recommendations from you. Whaddaya got for me to show her? Thanks, Mike Hi Mike, We carry two lines of mattresses that are fully organic and hypoallergenic. Suite Sleep makes a line of All Latex Mattresses.
