Good Morning, I've had 2 spinal fusions at L4-S1. I still have spinal stenosis, degenerative disc disease throughout the whole spine. Bulging Disc C3-C8 in Neck, T11-T12 have had fractures. L2-L3 are ready for spinal fusion. I have L5 nerve damage on the left side, with the right side deteriorating. I need a new mattress that will be good for my spine and I'm in bed 15-18 hours a day. I currently have a Linenspa 8" gel memory foam mattress that I purchased in 2017. I need a recommendation for a new mattress. I'm 4'11, 186 in weight and generally on my left side for most of the day. I can only sleep on my sides or back. What do you recommend? Hi Pete, My wife and I are replacing a Stearns and Foster Hampton Plush Mattress. We've had it a very long time. We went to a local store and asked to see the current replacement from S&F. We were shown a mattress that had a peculiar feel. That experience made me leery enough to walk out and do some research on my computer. I thank God that I had the notion to do that. I had written to you a 5 years back about this, when I thought it was time to replace that mattress. You convinced me to get a latex topper instead, which I did. You were right! It worked like a charm! The comfort it gave me was delicious! I did as you suggested and first used the latex topper on top of the mattress. After about a year, I flipped this one sided mattress over and added the latex topper back. That gave me a few more years. It was a great idea and a great value. The latex topper is still good, but the mattress no longer provides adequate support. Now, it's past time to replace that mattress.
