Hi Pete, I'm a big man and have lots of back problems. 5'10", 250 lbs. I need a mattress to relieve my chronic back pain. Do you have a mattress that will do that and hold up under someone my size? Good Morning Pete, I need a new mattress that will be good for my spine and I'm in bed 15-18 hours a day. I currently have an 8" Gel Memory Foam Mattress a couple of years ago. This mattress does not support my spine, causing extreme back pain. I have spinal stenosis and degenerative disc disease throughout the whole spine. Bulging Disc C3-C8 in Neck, T11-T12 have had fractures. L2-L3 are ready for spinal fusion. I have L5 nerve damage on the left side, with the right side deteriorating. I'm 4'11, 186 in weight and generally on my left side for most of the day. I can only sleep on my sides or back. What do you recommend? I sincerely appreciate the advice and direction. The mattress was like new and we wanted it for a spare bedroom set. The mattress is a king sized Stearns & Foster. It is set on two side by side box springs. I started sleeping on this bed when my wife had a cold and I didn't want. Plus, our snoring wakes each other up. I have been sleeping on this S&F mattress for about nine months. I turn it a quarter turn regularly. Side sleeper with latex pillows I got from you. Some days I wake up and it feels like my lower back is S shaped. It takes a while to shake that off. I'm 63 and have had bulging lower discs a couple of times in the past. I was wondering if this mattress could be flipped over and then a 2” latex topper be used on it to keep me off the possible memory foam or use the topper over the mattress as is. We recently got a new old two sided mattress from my aunt. It was her spare room bed set which has only been used a few times, so it's basically brand new. I have 3 herniated discs in my lower back. Every little bit of motion transfer is causing back pain. I've never had such a problem before! Even the tiniest movement of my husband's foot causes the whole mattress to shake! Hi Pete, We have a Sleep Number Mattress with their standard foundation and metal frame. My husband has a lot of back pain. He had surgery in 2016 at L4/5. He thinks the bed is causing his pain and I don’t doubt it. I have some hip and shoulder pain, and periodic arm numbness but I generally can sleep on anything. I am 5’2” and weigh 160 and he is 6’ tall and weighs about 250. We really don’t know where to start with getting an expensive mattress that we won’t be replacing in 2-3 years, but I’ve read your website and I’m convinced that we need something innerspring with a latex topper if that would seem to fit our profile. It would be nice if it was able to be flipped, and it would also be nice if we could just keep the base system and frame that we have for our sleep number bed. Thanks for your advice!
