I'm looking for a queen size ultra plush mattress, as our current mattress is just too firm. We're seeking something with no off gassing as organic as possible. Also can any of your mattress sit on an adjustable base which raises feet or head?

Based on the details of your question, it sounds like you don’t actually need to go to the expense of a new mattress. 
You already have a mattress providing the firm support that every body needs.
You only need to make what you have more comfortable.
You can do that with a mattress topper.
There are many types, with a layer of soft pure organic and hypoallergenic latex being the most comfortable and longest lasting.

2” of Soft Latex does make a difference. 
But, the 3” Soft will give you the ultra plush feel that you desire.
These toppers are available with or without an organic cotton zipper on cover.
I recommend including a cover when you order.
Avoid latex made in China. It usually isn’t pure latex and short lived.

Hi Pete,
I have a very old Sealy Posturepedic queen size mattress.
It has a Cotton Damask Cover, 782 High Profile Tempered Steel Coils, Heavy Duty Border Rod Edge Guard and Torsion Bar Boxspring.  
I bought it in 2002….I rotate and flip it regularly. 
It is, STILL, in good condition but could be a bit more comfortable.   
What would you recommend?

​Hi Pete,
I purchased a Simmons Beautyrest Plush queen size mattress. 
It was a floor model, which felt really great when I tried it at the store.
But at home it feels different and is uncomfortable to sleep on. 
The problem seems to be that the edges where we sleep are softer than the center of the mattress. 
There are depressions where we sleep, but the adjacent area doesn't give as much, so when I change position, I'm on a firm area and a more soft area. 
This is uncomfortable and I can't sleep. 
Is this normal? It doesn’t seem like it should be!

Hi John,
You didn’t buy a “Floor Sample”.
Stores offer a comfort guarantee that isn’t backed by the manufacturer. So when they exchange a mattress under their comfort guarantee, they can’t send it back to the manufacturer for credit. So rather than lose money, they put the returned mattress on their floor and sell it as a floor sample close out, which is totally illegal.
What you bought is a used mattress that someone else bought and used and returned.
As illegal as this is, it’s the common practice of most mattress stores.


If you’re stuck with it, the best thing to do is flip it over to its firm side and add a mattress topper for comfort.

Shortly after the turn of the century, all of the major brands went from making 2 sided mattresses to one sided mattresses because those old 2 sided mattresses were just lasting too long.
The change was an effort to sell more mattresses more frequently.
But back then, they were all still using high quality components. So, even the one sided mattresses would last about 10 years or so… the length of the warranty.

Today, none of them are using the same high quality components.
Since then, all the name brands have been sold during the 20-teens.
The new owners have all switched to using memory foam, which causes a mattresses to need replacing even more frequently.
You’re lucky if you get even 5 years out of them now… less if you’re heavy.

The Serta/Simmons Company, (now one company after they were purchased by the same investment group), have reintroduced a 2 sided mattress… one with a Serta label and one with a Simmons label. Both are upholstered with the same worthless memory foam they use in the rest of the line.
Offering a 2 sided mattress only creates the illusion that it will last longer if the components used is the same worthless crap they’ve been using.
