Hi Pete,
We need two mattresses. We need a king size for my husband and I, who are of average size. We also need a queen size mattress for our son, who is a big guy. What would you recommend? Thanks, Diane Hi Diane, I have a couple of options for you, so we’ll start with the best. This is the same mattress my wife and I sleep on at home. The Natura of Canada Greenspring Ultra Plush...uses an individually pocketed coil unit with a very high coil count and double tempered steel...providing firm contouring support that maintains the natural alignment of the spine. The upholstery is Plush Natural Talalay Latex, so a separate latex topper isn’t necessary. Click on this link to view specifications and prices. This mattress is available with a matching foundation, and comes with white glove delivery, which includes setup in your bedroom and removal of all packing materials. Similarly made, is the Wolf Tulah Luxury Plush Eurotop Mattress is my recommendation for your son. The coil count is not as high but the steel is still double tempered. The upholstery is very similar to what you'll find in most hotels. This mattress ships via FedEx. Delivery is Always Free Online ordering is Easy & Secure Visa, M/C, Discover, Amex Or choose 4 Interest Free Bi-Monthly Payments with afterpay Thanks, Pete - TME VERY IMPORTANT: Keeping your mattress clean and dry will increase its longevity. Hi Pete,
I'm writing in hopes that you can help me and my husband find a mattress. He has upper back pain that is aggregated by sleeping on our current, failed Sleep Number bed. He is 6'2.5" and 198 lbs. He is 40 years old and prefers to sleep on his side. We are wondering if we need to try a memory foam mattress. But after chalking up $400 in shipping for the failed sleep number I'm hesitant to buy another ridiculously expensive designer/gimmick bed. What are your thoughts?! Thank you for entertaining my question! Sincerely, Jennifer Hi Jennifer, The problem he is having is caused by the top layer memory foam in the sleep number mattress. Buying a memory foam mattress will only take you from bad to worse. Contrary to all the ads and hype that you've been following, thus far, memory foam is the worst upholstery material ever invented. A mattress with an individually pocketed coil unit will contour to the shape of the body and maintain the spine's natural alignment. This type of support will relieve his back pain. I recommend the mattress we sleep on, at home....The Natura of Canada Greenspring Ultra Plush. The upholstery is natural Talalay Latex and contains NO Memory Foam. Latex is and has been the best upholstery material for the past 100 years. It's a question of quality....something you don't have now. I've decided that our next mattress will be the "Natura of Canada Greenspring Ultra Plush Mattress" We're coming from an old "luxury firm" S&F and it sounds like this is a best option. I'm really struggling as to what type of latex topper to get. I've never had a topper before, but I've read lots of good things about them. I'm wondering about the brands, which thickness, and even which comfort level? I had no idea toppers had so many options. I'm 6'4" around 285, wife is 190 and 5'9" -- we're in our mid-40s. Can you make some specific recommendations? Thanks and look forward to hearing from you, Brian Hi Brian, You have to be careful with latex toppers. The quality can vary greatly. Over the past several years, latex made in China has become available and popular due to the lower prices. The prices are low because the Chinese use clay as a filler when they make the latex foam. Clay is a natural material, so it’s sold as all natural latex…not bothering to mention the clay. It does not wear well. Used on a Natura of Canada Greenspring Ultra Plush Mattress, 2” of Soft or Plush latex topper is what to get. You wouldn’t want it firm. The best topper is the Suite Sleep Organic Latex Topper. Thanks for this informative site. My wife and I have had a Stearns and Foster Knightsbridge Pillowtop Mattress for about 15 years. And we have loved sleeping on it. But I think it's getting time to replace it. It doesn't seem horrible, but was wondering about what would be best replacement. Or, should we try a latex topper? We are both around 200lbs, some side sleeping but mostly on our backs. If you could help give some input on these I would be much appreciated. Thanks, Woodrow Hi Woodrow, Your mattress is older than you think. It’s, certainly, 18 years old at the very least…likely 23 years old. It was one of the best mattresses S&F ever produced. S&F is now owned by Tempurpedic. Nothing they make today comes close to the quality of the Knightsbridge. We had been a Sealy/S&F dealer for many years prior to Tempurpedic buying them. The sale of those companies to Tempurpedic is what sent us shopping at the industry trade shows for high quality alternatives. The Natura of Canada Greenspring is what we found to replace S&F. The specifications of the Greenspring mattresses exceed those of S&F mattresses when S&F was “The Cadillac of the Industry”. We’ve sold a ton of these Natura mattresses since 2013, and without a single complaint. It’s what my wife and I sleep on at home. We’ve had ours for nearly 10 years, and it’s still in like new condition, despite each of us weighing more than 200 lbs. We sleep on the ultra plush model, which is their most comfortable. Due to the high quality of the components, it’s not as soft as it sounds. It strikes me as ideal for the two of you. I'm very interested in your Natura of Canada Greenspring Liberta Mattresses, but a little concerned because I’m not able to try the mattress. First of all, I noticed that the mattress contains wool. I have a problem with wool clothing in that it makes me itch and I’ll end up getting red from it. Will this be a problem with the mattress. Also not sure if I need Firm or Plush. Secondly I have broken my back 5 Times and have a lot of problems sleeping at night. I bought a Tempurpedic mattress which I exchanged for a softer one because I was unable to sleep comfortably at night. The comfort level did not improve with the new one and I have put up with it now for five years. I tried several mattresses today including the Simmons Beautyrest Black, Serra and Stearns and Foster. I found that the plush models were often too soft and didn’t provide enough support. I would like a mattress that is supportive but comfortable and doesn’t wake me up at night with sore hips and shoulders when I try sleeping on my side. Maybe I am asking for too much from a mattress. Buying a mattresses that comes rolled up in a box makes me a bit apprehensive. I like the idea of a person having to install it. Any suggestions would be appreciated. 73 years old and haven’t had a good night’s sleep in over 15 years. Thanks so much, Diana Good Morning Diana, All of those mattresses that you tried and didn’t work for you have one thing in common that made it impossible for you to get comfortable. They are all upholstered with memory foam. Despite all the hype to the contrary, memory foam is the worst upholstery material ever invented. It’s a temperature sensitive material that softens as it warms from your body heat. You then sink into it…further and further as the weeks and months go by. You’ve lost the alignment of your spine and you’re hitting the firmer materials that support it. Memory foam is specifically designed to cause a mattress to need frequent replacing…and not under the terms of the warranty. Memory foam has many negative side effects and is simply a poor quality product. And as if all that weren’t bad enough, memory foam off gasses the toxic chemicals from which it’s made. Trying before you buy was the way to go about all this back in the day before memory foam came to dominate the industry....when it was difficult to make a mistake. Now, it’s nothing more than a bad habit, since memory foam is so highly deceptive. The Natura of Canada Greenspring Ultra Plush Mattress is what my wife and I sleep on at home. Our mattress is still in like new condition after almost a decade, with each of us weighing more than 200 lbs. And even though I have several disc related back problems, I sleep and wake without back pain. The Ultra Plush model is the most comfortable of their 4 models, without being too soft by anyone’s standards. That is the mattress I recommend for you. Click on this link to view specifications and prices. https://www.themattressexpert.com/store/p142/Natura_Greenspring_Liberta_Ultra_Plush.html#/ The thin layer of wool acts as a natural fire retardant. Most other mattresses use chemicals for that. The wool is under a cotton cover. You then will add a waterproof mattress protector, or should. And, then there's your fitted sheet. Since the wool will not come in contact with you directly, you won't have a problem. This mattress comes with White Glove Delivery. I have lower back pain and occasional sciatica. It’s time for a new mattress and I need help on what to get. I do not care for memory foam, but am concerned about pressure points. Regards, Carolyn Good Morning Carolyn, The best type of support to relieve chronic back pain, resulting in sciatica, is an individually pocketed coil system, which contours to the shape of the body and maintains the natural alignment of the spine. Many mattresses are made with this type of coil unit, but almost all of them are upholstered with memory foam, which totally negates the benefit. The mattresses I’m recommending for you uses this type of coil that is also stronger than most, using heavy gauge double tempered steel for much greater durability, and Natural Hypoallegenic Talalay Latex Upholstery The Natura of Canada Greenspring Ultra Plush Mattress. You may wish to add a soft mattress topper for greater pressure point relief . Suite Sleep Latex Mattress Toppers are made of pure latex with no fillers nor synthetics. They are the highest quality latex on the planet. Latex is and always has been the best upholstery material available. Of the ones they offer, their Pure Vita Talalay Latex Topper is the softest. We need to replace my ancient queen mattress and box springs, but am dealing with a couple of issues: 1) We are large people, around 200 lb., around the same height. We are both side sleepers. 2) We each have chronic back pain due to DDD, degenerated disc disease. I suppose I am looking for something of quality, (resistant to sagging), that will address the pain issues. Neither of us likes a soft mattress, but want comfort. What do you recommend? Thanks, Ellen Hi Ellen, One of our most frequent recommendations will also suit the two of you. The Natura of Canada Greenspring Ultra Plush Mattress, which is no way too soft. The individually pocketed coils are made of heavy gauge, double tempered steel for durability. Sagging is not an issue with this mattress and this coil system is ideal for relieving chronic back pain. The upholstery is Natural & Hypoallergenic Talalay Latex Foam, so there's no chemicals to worry about. This is NOT a soft mattress, contrary to what the firmness designation would indicate. It is comfortable enough for side sleepers. This is the mattress my wife and I sleep on. We each weigh more than 200 Lbs. and I have a very bad back Our mattress is 9 years old and still in like new condition. What's more, I sleep and wake with NO Back Pain.
