Hi Pete, I slept on a Sealy Posturepedic Dynasty CSS Plush Mattress at the hotel that I stayed at in Deadwood South Dakota. I want one just like it. Can you help? I had the best night sleep and it was so comfortable. I've tried to find it with no success. Thanks, Sandy Hi Sandy, That was a very good mattress. I’m sorry to say, It’s no longer being made. You won’t be able to get a mattress just like it. Sealy isn’t even Sealy anymore. It’s Tempur-Sealy…owned by Tempurpedic. Hello Pete,
I stayed at the Venetian Hotel in Vegas last July. I can’t stop thinking about the great sleep my husband and I had while we were there. I tried looking at the matress to see if I can buy it but there wasn’t any info on the tag. We have our matress for 22 years loved it for 20 of those years. It’s a Stearns & Foster. Can you please tell me what kind of matress the Venetian in Vegas uses? I would want the same one they use in their rooms. Thank you, Doreen Hi Doreen, This is much more complicated and isn’t as easily answered as you might think. The mattress in the room you occupied is unlikely to be the same mattress that the hotel is currently ordering. In a new hotel, all of the mattresses are the same. As time goes by, mattresses are replaced as needed. And, also over time, the specifications of the replacement mattresses change. If you were able to order the same exact mattress as what The Venetian is currently ordering, you’re more likely to be disappointed than not. Even if that hotel mattress is new, you’re comparing the quality of your sleep to that which you’re getting from a 22 year old mattress…which was much higher quality than anything used by any hotel today. You can forget all about getting 20 years. You’ll be lucky to get a 10th of that longevity from a hotel mattress upholstered with memory foam. (Your old S&F mattress has no memory foam in it, which is why it’s lasted so long) I believe that mattress is made by Sealy, but won’t be available at any retail store. Here’s a link to Sealy’s hospitality site. https://tempursealyhospitality.com/mattress-types/sealy-posturepedic/ The problem with all of these mattresses is the memory foam used. It doesn’t wear well, tends to sleep hot and off gasses the toxic chemicals from which memory foam is made. My recommendation would be a mattress using an individually pocketed coil system for proper spinal alignment and pure, organic and hypoallergenic latex upholstery for long lasting comfort. The PlushBeds Luxury Bliss Mattress is an excellent choice. It comes with a 100 night trial period and they accept PayPal…and it’s ON SALE. Hi Pete, I’m looking to replace an old Sealy Posturepedic Montoire in Firm, (made in 1997), with a softer mattress. I want to find out the year that it was discontinued, and then see what mattress is the plush equivalent. The mattress is still in good shape, but it’s not as comfortable as I’d like it to be, now that I too am 26 years older. Many thanks, Nancy Hi Nancy, Lots of things have changed since then. At that time, models would routinely be changed every couple of years. The model name would have been exclusive to the store where you bought it. Every store would have the same mattress available with a different model name. The last year Sealy made a 2 sided, flippable mattress was 2002. Sealy was bought by Tempurpedic in 2013. Your mattress has no memory foam in it. Memory foam didn’t exist at that time. Every Sealy mattress made today is upholstered with memory foam. Memory foam is specifically designed to cause a mattress to need frequent replacing…and off gasses the toxic chemicals from which memory foam is made. (The industry is making a ton of money promoting that garbage at the expense of the consumer). The quality is much less than yours from 1997. You, definitely, don’t want to buy a Sealy, or any other name brand mattress. All have been sold to investors who are using memory foam to enhance profits. The good news is, you can make your mattress comfortable by adding a soft latex topper. It would be a shame to get rid of such a well-made mattress that still in good condition. Adding a high-quality, Soft Organic Latex Mattress Topper provides you surface comfort that lasts for many years. Suite Sleep, a company producing organic latex toppers in Colorado, is the among the best available.
