Hi Pete,
I'm 60 years old and I have Mixed Connective Tissue Disorder - a lot like fibromyalgia. Every joint hurts, all the time, but only if touched. Pressure points are obviously a problem. I have a lovely 10-yr old Simmons' BeautyRest World Class Forest Glen Firm (extra firm!) that I have loved for many, many years. It has gotten to be like sleeping on a board, and even my husband's joints are starting to complain in the morning. We tried adding a 2" memory foam topper, then a convoluted 2" foam topper on top of that. Still no support in the small of my back, and pressure points keep waking me through the night. Hubby has taken up sleeping on the couch! We are not in a position to buy a new mattress set at this time. So, my question is: Will a 2" latex topper provide the cushioning we need?. Would the 3" be worth the difference? Thanks for your time, Penny Hi Penny, Unlike memory foam, you don't sink through latex. It's much more resilient. It holds you up and does a great job of relieving pressure points...and does that job for many years before needing to be replaced. Usually, 2" of Soft Latex is enough and is the most popular thickness. The 3" Soft creates a greater depth of softness. Given the degree of your sensitivity, 3” is the logical choice. You want to be careful of where you buy your latex topper. There is a lot of latex imported from China, where they add clay as a filler. The clay cheapens the latex and shortens the longevity. And since clay is a natural substance, it’s sold as all natural latex. Natural does not equal pure. The best price for Pure, Organic and Hypoallergenic Latex Toppers is had from Latex for Less.
