Hi Pete, My boyfriend and I purchased a Stearns and Foster pillowtop mattress about 3 weeks ago. The bed is at my house and he generally only stays over on weekends. Im heavier, about 275 pounds. The side of the mattress that I sleep on already feels much, much squishier than the side that doesnt get slept on as often, the other side still feels nice and firm. I want to exchange it for a non-pillowtop mattress. But, I need some help as to what to choose. Thanks, Mellissa Hi Mellissa, S&F was purchased by Tempurpedic back in 2013. The pillowtop part is only part of the problem you’re experiencing. The memory foam upholstery is another reason why your side is sinking in. Even if you exchange it for another S&F mattress without a pillowtop, you’ll be back in the same situation within months. If the store you’re dealing with has mattresses that don’t have any memory foam in them, those would be the ones to consider. Memory foam is purposefully designed to do precisely what your mattress is doing. I hope this helps you. It’s hard to find mattresses without memory foam at most retail mattress stores. Good luck, Pete - TME ****** Hi Pete, My store doesn’t have any mattresses without memory foam. All of their mattresses are name brands. When did they all change? Anyway, they’re willing to take this mattress back and refund my money, minus a 10% handling fee. I hate to lose that money, but don’t want to waste the other 90%. So, now if in the market for another mattress WITHOUT memory foam. What would you recommend for a gal my size that’s comfortable and long lasting? Thanks again, Mellisa Hi Mellissa, We specialize in mattresses without memory foam. What’s more, all of our mattresses are upholstered with latex. Latex is and has been the best upholstery material used in mattresses for the past 100+ years. Nothing new… just the highest quality available. Moreover, we carry a line of mattresses that are specifically designed to provide support and for larger people over a long period of time… many years. Natura of Canada Greenspring is that line of mattresses. There are 4 choices of comfort, one sided models and a plush 2 sided mattress. Their firmer models are recommended for very heavy people. We’ve had several customers who topped 500 lbs. For you, I’d recommend either the Ultra Plush one sided, or the Plush 2 sided mattress. These mattresses have an extremely high coil count that’s designed to maintain the natural alignment of the body and spine. The Natural and Hypoallergenic Talalay Latex upholstery is equally comfortable and durable. Here’s a link to that line of mattresses.
