Hello Pete, I am trying to find specific info on a mattress I bought back in 2008. Simmons Beautyrest World Class Eurotop Medium around 14-14.5 inches tall. Was mostly curious if this had latex in it or memory foam. It feels/bounces like latex. latex mattresses are of course more expensive and I probably can't afford one. I am shopping for a new one after 17 years haha. And it only lasted 4 years before it sagged. I was toying with the idea of buying a floor sample with no warranty to get something "more expensive" (latex) but will most likely go for a new one (non latex). I'm looking at Spring Air Back Supporter, (I do have lower back pain), the Michelle Box Top Plush, which is the only one I have felt and it feels much more like a medium, compared to the Katrina Medium which is too soft. I did try the Katrina Firm and not good. I thought I was sold on the Katrina medium but now no. The other is a Diamond Platinum Ice Medium or maybe Tranquility Quilted. I thought I was sold on the Tranquility but after a few tries went it to maybe. I tried a Platinum Ice Firm today and liked it more than the Tranq med that I thought I was sold on. They didn't have a med. I will search. It might be the one if I can find it. Series 9 coils in the V1 Plat, the last series that are about to be replaced. Series 7 in the Tranq. The new Plat now has Series 7??? Sounds like a downgrade. Spring Air has a 10 year warranty, not sure about the amount of sag before that can kick in, I'm guessing 1.5 inches. Diamond has a 1 inch defect before they will replace the mattress. The Spring Air is of last generation and is about to be replaced. The Diamond I want is also last gen. Diamond claims to have a 20 year warranty. But I understand it is 10 full and 10 prorated which I don't understand. Haven't got a clear answer from anyone on that as well. My biggest fear or rather fears are if I bought from one of these companies and the mattress sagged lets say for fairness within the 10 years, which company would you rather deal with regarding warranty claims? I live in LA, close to Diamond, I have been told Spring Air has a factory in Fresno. Maybe a plus for Diamond. How much does the retailer I'm buying from come into play. Thanks, Dave Hi Dave, Simmons Beautyrest was sold in 2016. There’s no way to get specific information about a 2008 model. Nor is there any hope of replicating that mattress. What you can’t afford is a mattress that needs to be replaced 3 years from now. That’s exactly what you’ll have is you buy a mattress upholstered with memory foam. Mattress warranties protect you against defects in workmanship and materials. It has nothing to do with normal wear. Memory foam is the only upholstery material that is temperature sensitive. As it warms from your body heat, it softens…allowing you to sink into it. At first, it’s quite comfortable. But, memory foam isn’t very resilient. Before long, you’ll sink further than you’d like. Within a couple of years you’ll feel like it’s sagging, causing back pain. It’s called “memory foam” because when you get out of bed, the memory foam will return to its original shape. The warranty says something about the depth of a sag being the criteria needed to prevail in a warranty claim. 1.5” in depth is standard. For some, it’s 3”. However, the depth of this sag is measured with nobody on the mattress, described as a “sustained impression”. Since memory foam returns when you get off, it’ll never measure a sustained impression of 1.5”. You’ll never prevail in a warranty claim. If you insist upon buying such a mattress, you’ll benefit from adding a latex topper, which will create a barrier between you and the memory foam…preventing the memory foam from reacting to your body heat. Latex for Less has the lowest prices on the highest quality latex available. The affordability depends on where you look. The very best prices on these high quality products are had from PlushBeds. Their best buy is their Luxury Bliss model. Shown here: PlushBeds Luxury Bliss Mattress https://www.plushbeds.com/products/12-luxury-bliss-natural-latex-mattress-with-encased-coils?variant=31705061490786&sscid=71k8_pjs8o&utm_source=share-a-sale&utm_campaign=4342051 This mattress is currently on sale and comes with a 100 night trial…a money back guarantee. When it comes to latex, it’s important to avoid latex that’s been processed in China, where they use clay as a filler. The end result is cheap latex that doesn’t last very long. Since clay is a natural material, it’s sold as all natural latex. But, it’s not pure latex, like the latex used in Latex for Less and PlushBeds products.
