Hi Pete,
I grew up with a full size Sealy Posturepedic mattress (~early 2000s) which was incredibly comfortable. I then had a hand me down full size spring mattress when I moved which I believe was also Sealy. I was able to put this on an amazon basics metal bed frame. I've recently wanted to upgrade to a queen mattress, and I have gone through 8 mattresses in the last 6 months. I have focused on buying spring mattresses like the Beautyrest Silver or Serta Perfect Sleeper and I feel like I'm sinking (terrible back pain) or have jaw pain in each of those. I've tried foundations from box spring to slats with no luck. I've also tried the leesa sapira hybrid with bad lower back pain. It seems I like a medium-firm, 10-12", spring mattress but the newer models are not providing me the right back support for me. Do you have recommendations on mattresses that mirror the original supportive posturepedic mattresses? Any advice would be super helpful. Thank you very much for your help, Divya Good Morning Divya, The problem you’re having is due to the memory foam being used in so many mattresses today. Your old Sealy didn’t have any memory foam in it. All of the name brand mattress companies that you could once trust to make a quality product have been sold. The new owners are nothing more than profiteers. Sealy and S&F in 2013…Simmons and Serta in 2016. None of the mattresses being made by these brands are worth buying. All are upholstered with memory foam. As you’ve discovered, the switch to memory foam is not an improvement. Quite the opposite is true. The good news is that there are high quality mattresses being made. My recommendation: The PlushBeds Luxury Bliss Mattress in Medium Firm. The individually pocketed coils insure proper spinal alignment. The pure, organic and hypoallergenic latex upholstery provides long lasting comfort that won’t allow you to sink, creating the feeling of floating. It’s a 12” mattress and comes with a 100 Night Trial. Here’s a link where you can view that mattress and place your order. Keeping your mattress clean and dry and will enhance the longevity of your mattress and keep it odor free.
