After much research, I've decided the Natura Greenspring Mattress. We're coming from a very old "luxury firm" Stearns & Foster, and it sounds like this is a best option to replace this discontinued mattress. I'm really struggling as to which model and what type of latex topper to get. I've never had a topper before, but I've read lots of good things about them. I have a Tempur-Pedic mattress that I'm not able to sleep on. I am a heavy gal, over 300 lbs. and I sink into it and have difficulty turning over. It hurts my back. Would adding a latex topper on the mattress neutralize the memory foam in the pillow top? Will it make that mattress more comfortable? And if so, which latex topper do you recommend? I have a number of problems and I hope you can help me. I need a new mattress. The one I have is causing my back to hurt badly. I also have osteoarthritis and severe fibromyalgia pain. We are moving from a queen size bed to a king. My wife likes to sleep right next to me. With our weights, it is like a SINK HOLE in the middle of our bed. I have had my new simmons beautyrest king hospitality mattress just over a month on the two twin xl foundations it came with, and just noticed after lifting it to assemble a metal frame to put it on that there is a 1-1.5 inch tear on the bottom ( non sleep surface). There was no damage inside or loss of material or moisture/ dirt. We just patched it with aluminum ductwork tape ( not regular duct tape) , and my husband is convinced this should be 100% fine long term. I let the Hospitality beautyrest company know that it most likely arrived this way but I only viewed the sleep surface because it was delivered right on the foundations immediately. They said a tear may void the warranty and to take photos and request a new one, but it’s not guaranteed. Rather than go to that trouble we really want to just keep it, but do you think the mattress will hold up with the aluminum patch long term? Or, is it worth the trouble of trying to replace it? So far it feels great and doesn’t affect the way the mattress feels at all, but I have never had to patch a mattress, and it’s considered a high end, expensive one that is expected to last 10-15 years. I purchased them with the understanding that they will last at least 5 years. I think I would be happy with half the original plan of 10 plus years since this one is a pillow top model. I read some social media comments about them before purchasing. They are apparently extremely comfortable for around 5 years or so for pillow top models, and 7 years for non pillow tops. I know they do not at all make them as durable as they used to. I slept on my twin Serta innerspring bed for over 30 years comfortably. We are looking for a new mattress. It will be for occasional use. We meet family at their vacation home several times per year. They have a room for us but we provide the furniture as a thank you. In our house we have a Natura Greenspring Ultra Plush with a 2" latex topper that we purchased from you several years ago. We love it and it's still in great shape, however the price now higher than what we paid for ours. So I was wondering what suggestions you might have. We would like something similar to our Greenspring. I like slightly firm but my wife wouldn't mind something a little softer.
