I have a new King sized Simmons/ Serta hospitality pillowtop mattress, and have it on the two twin foundations it came with on the floor, but have yet to get a slatted platform frame for it. With these beds which are more considered Hybrid compared to classic innerspring, would the bed feel likely firmer or softer if placed on a slatted frame with the foundation? Or would it feel exactly the same? I am considering a steel bed frame just to prevent any possible mold growth, but wonder if it would change how the mattress feels. If you put the foundation on a steel bed frame or a slatted platform makes no difference. A slatted platform doesn’t require the use of a foundation. I’m looking to replace an old Simmons Beautyrest Baymont Mattress. Simmons, along with all of the other name brands, has been sold. All are using memory foam, which wears quickly, sleeps hot, and off gasses the toxic chemicals from which memory foam is made. While being promoted as the best, memory foam is the absolute worst. It’s thee thing to avoid when buying a new mattress. Your Simmons has no memory foam in, which is why it has lasted for so long. When having such a good experience with a product, it’s natural to look to buy that same brand when it comes time to replace it. If it hadn’t been for the dramatic change in specifications, (specifically, the memory foam), that would be the way to go. When Simmons was still owned by Simmons, they made a fabulous product. If you were to buy a Simmons mattress today, you’ll wish that you had your old one back within a matter of months. My wife and I are an extremely overweight couple. I’m 6’2” and weigh 350 lbs. My wife is a little shorter and weighs a little less, I’m assuming. She won’t say.
