I ordered a queen size Sealy mattress from you, back in 2013. A few years ago, I got married and my husband insisted on buying a king size Sleep Number Bed. I’ve hated it all along, and wish I had never gotten rid of that Sealy mattress. I’ve been suffering with back pain for the last few years, and with the man who insisted on buying that horrible bed. I’m getting a divorce and need a mattress for myself, in queen size. I’m average in size and would love to get a mattress like my old one. Can you help me now, as you did all those years ago? Nothing they make today is worth buying, due to the memory foam. However, I can still help you. I am very unhappy with my sleep number bed.My bed started going bad and it wasn't even a year old.
First the heating and cooling pump went bad then the mattress got a hole in it on the side. Now the air pumps won't hold air keep having to pump it up. I called customer service and they told me that the warranty was gone on heating and cooling after a year but the mattress was still partially covered They said it could be fixed for $800, after I just paid $5000. Totally would never buy again. David Hi David, Sleep Number does a fine job of hyping their product. They spend plenty of money doing it, which is why it costs so much. It’s a pity that they don’t invest enough to make it worthwhile. If it makes you feel any better, you’re not alone. I get lots of people writing with reviews like yours. We’ve been through a couple of memory foam mattresses over the last few years. At first, we love the feel and sleep great. The problem comes a few months later. We feel like we’re sinking into it, like the mattress is sagging. But it doesn’t look like it’s sagging after we get up in the morning. When we sink into it, our backs start hurting and it takes a couple of hours to shake that off after we get up. The other things, that we were willing to live with, is the chemical odor and the warmth from the mattress after we’ve been in it for a few hours. I am 38 years old, 5'11' 170lbs and my wife is 5'7' 135lbs. I have a mild case of scoliosis and sleep on my back and side but would say I sleep on my side about 75% of the time. I spent much of last night reading your blog posts. Your knowledge and willingness to share that knowledge is most impressive. We’re older folks with the usual back, hip and shoulder aches and pains. I'm a petite female with wide hips, shopping for new mattress. Current one is Sealy that is only a few yrs old. But lately, I have been having pain in both hips when I sleep on my side(s). I'm in my mid-70's, have had two knee replacements, a reverse shoulder replacement and am about to have surgery for a torn gluteus medius tendon in my hip. Plus I have low-back pain. I'm a side sleeper and have an adjustable extra-long twin bed. I ache all the time. My bed is too firm and lying on my side, pressure points, like the trochanter muscle, hurt. I just realized my current mattress is OLD - a Simmons we bought in 2006! My brother recently bought a Sealy Posturepedic Highpoint Plush mattress and he loves it. Says he no longer has aches and pains. I think this is a hybrid? Coils and some foam? I can't imagine buying a mattress without first trying it out to compare.
