A Soft Latex Topper for an Extra Firm Simmons Beautyrest Mattress

​Hi Pete,Thank you for providing your expert advice. 
I purchased a Simmons BeautyRest World Class Marbella Extra Extra (yes 2 “extra”) Firm queen size mattress probably in 2004.


I still love my mattress. It is still in a very good shape and have no problem with it. My bed is heavy, sturdy and when I get onto my bed, it doesn’t bounce (solid feeling). However it is giving my husband pains and aches since he is a side sleeper. I am looking to find a replacement in terms of a twin XL so that he can also get one that he is comfortable with so that we can fit the 2 mattresses into a king bed frame. 


Do you know what bed is offering the same support and firmness as my current mattress?

A lot has changed since 2002, and not for the better.
Simmons was sold in 2016, but had gone through some negative changes even prior to that. All of the name brands have been sold.
The focus of these companies is no longer about quality. Now, it’s profits.
They all make mattresses that don’t last very long, using upholstery materials that are made of toxic chemicals that have plenty of negative side effects.
Simmons makes nothing today that’s worth buying.

You’d do better to make what you have more comfortable with enough surface comfort to accommodate a side sleeper. You can do this by adding a soft latex mattress topper. This does not affect the underlying firm support that you’re getting, but does provide pressure point relief for the shoulders and hips.
